Spyware Guard 2009 is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only Spyware Guard 2009 can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads Spyware Guard 2009 trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, Spyware Guard 2009 offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, Spyware Guard 2009 does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Spyware Guard 2009, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Spyware Guard 2009, is nearly impossible to remove manually.

Siblings were on my computer and then they told me the computer froze so they pressed the ON button to manually shut down the computer. Since then spyware guard 2009 has been popping up and after reading some removal procedures, i could still not delete it’s files.
It is in my program files as “Spyware Guard 2009″.
Tried deleting it through cmd but the system could not find the path specified.
Downloaded Pocket KillBox but “the file does not seem to exist”.
I’m left to decide whether to just back up my files onto a portable hard drive then simply start the partition drive anew.
Please send help!
We figured out how to remove it! Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as downloading anti-spyware software. The program that we used was MalewareBytes, but we couldn’t do anything directly. First off, we couldn’t download the program directly to our PC, so we had to download it to another computer and transfer it to the infected computer via a usb stick. Then, we couldn’t get MalewareBytes to install itself on the infected computer. It kept freezing up once it got to the “extracting files” part. (Renaming the program might also work – something like “Remover” instead of “MalewareBytes”.) At that point, we went into the task manager and found the mbam.exe process and ended it. We had to do this several times to get MalewareBytes to install completely. Once we did this, however, the program still wouldn’t run, so we had to rename it to “MBytes.bat”. Mainly, you need to make sure that you’ve changed the .exe extension to .bat. After that, it should run for about half an hour after which it will want to restart your computer. We suggest running it two or three times to completely remove everything. It should take about half an hour each time. We had first tried to remove it manually, but it was pretty close to impossible as the deleted files would just respawn before we could delete them all. Hopefully this works for other people too.
Spyware Guard 2009 appeared in Add/Remove Programs, so I chose to remove it. However, literally a minute later, after removing the program, it came up with the same old “Your computer is at high risk” nonsense.
Thanks to Hayley (posted on 1/11/09), I too was also able to remove Spyware Guard 2009. Maleware Bytes appears to have done the trick. The cleanest way to do it is to boot Windows in Safe Mode with Networking (for XP, press F8 when booting). Then you can open a web browswer and download + install + execute Maleware Bytes without a problem. The machine needed to be rebooted to complete the deletion of a few items. For good measure, I rebooted a second time and (on the third scan) no malicious items were found.
Normal Add/Remove Programs does not work (this is malicious software designed to trick you into buying a product that doesn’t work; it will not provide a simple method to remove it). Terminating the application using Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) left my machine in a hung state, so Safe Mode appeared to be the only way to do anything to it.
