September 7th, 2008

What is SpyDevastator?

Meet SpyDevastator – a wonder tool for milking your money and doing nothing except loading annoying popups. It will "scan" your PC while you are browsing infected websites and claim that you have lots of infections.  Of course, it is impossible to scan a computer from the web without your consent, thus their scanners are a hoaxes. Nevertheless, Spy Devastator pretends to be security tool made by legitimated company.

If you get SpyDevastator installed, your computer will show numerous popups about various infections and hacker attacks which never happened. The scan will show that registry entries belonging to trustworthy programs are in fact parasites, and you have lots of things to fix on your PC. Of course, only paid version can do that, or it is claimed so. The paid version does not do nothing useful either; all the pop-ups were there to force you to pay for thing that does nothing.

Spy Devastator website does not provide useful details about their company. They claim to be from eastern Europe, however neither company name or address are provided. Also, they hide domain record details in their DNS server, which no legitimate company would do. This is another proof that SpyDevastator is a scam.

You should remove SpyDevastator from your PC and block spydevastator.com in your HOSTS file.
