I have not gotten rid of Security Tool yet, but what has helped me, so I can get in and out of programs without being over ridden by Security Tool is stopping the computer and installing the Drivers and Utilities disc that came with my computer (leave it until you find the answer). You will still get popups, but you can over ride them.

I have read that these scammers are making upwards of 4 Billion a year total. I see people all the time who fall for the scam and send their credit card info. These viruses may be easy to remove overall, but they are bad news.

These people are pretty well organised and are most likely making serious money out of this. It checks the card details and I suspect the twats are sitting there waiting for details to come throuh. I bet at least 5% of people have handed over card numbers and then found out a few weeks later when they get their statement

It took me 2 hours trying different programs to remove this from a laptop
Malwarebytes in safe mode did the trick. You can download and run it there

All you need to do is right click the icon and select properties. This will show you the folder it is located in. Find the folder it is in, delete it and empty the recycling bin. Then just restart!

Hi everyone, this is regarding System Tool 2011. It somehow infected my machine yesterday. I (hopefully) have solved the problem fairly quickly.

-1- When your maching is booting up (windows is just starting up) enter task manager (ctrl, alt, del)
-2- once in task manager, look for system tool, which is hidden, renamed something like 107FL784 (or something random like this)
-3- END this process
-4- using the internet, download and install ComboFix (it’s 100% free)
-5- scan your computer with this. It will do everything for you, finding and deleting System Tool 2011. (i don’t know how, I’ve used this software before, it’s pretty amazing! never let me down yet)
-6- That’s it! hope it works for you – DOWN with spyware and malware!!

I was able to find and delete this virus in Safe Mode by using the Administrator and not the infected user.
Log in in safe mode.
Do a file search for any .exe files. Sort by date and look at time stamps.
You will find System tool it looks like a little master lock.
Write down the 6 or 7 character and 5 number file entry.
Delete it and empty recycle bin.
Search hidden folders for that 6 character 5 number file. It appears to be different for everyones computer. Search hidden files and folders also.
I found 2 and deleted tham both.
Empty recycle bin.
Delete temp files and temp internet files for that time frame.
You should be ok now. When you log on run your security software with updates.

I was taken in by “Security Tool 2011″ and I cannot gain access (from this computer) to any web browers to remove it. Is it possible to do from another computer and if so, how? Otherwise do I end up paying Geek Squad at Best Buy to get my netbook up and running again? I’m hoping not to have to pay anymore into my mistake than I already have. Hope you can help. Thanks.

hi iv had this before and successfully removed it by scanning with antivirous softwear in safe mode. but now for some reason my laptop wont boot up into safe mode.. the screen just goes blank after about 30 seconds sometimes less.is there any way i can fix it with out safe mode or system start up check. neither wiil start up

Security tool removal windows 7 (worked for me in less than 30min
(having MALWAREBYTES already installed is a bonus)
Restart (press F8)Safe Mode
Locate Security Stool (tool) icon shaped like a lock
Right click
Right click on Open file location
DELET DELET
Empty recycling bin
Run your anti-virus malware program malwarebytes found another in less than4min
For extra security run system restore
Thankyou Malwarebytes
Curse on you system stool fool

I have security tool on my computer. I tried to boot it up in safe mode and security tool locked my computer up on me…all I get now is a black screen. How can I fix this problem? Can I use one of my other computers to hook up to it and get rid of it that way? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Okay either I have the mother of all or I’m not doing something right.
This System Tool keeps popping up even after I did a system restore. I have tried the msconfig, safe mode networking and I’m exhausted.

I’m running XP and getting a little tired. I’m using my lap top to do he research because I can’t get through on my desktop.
