Reloadit Virus - How to remove

Reloadit Virus

Reloadit Virus is a dangerous ransomware which belongs to the same family of malware as the infamous Ukash Virus, FBI Moneypak Virus, Paysafecard Virus or Moneygram Virus. Once infiltrated into the system it does not start acting at once. After some minutes it will lock your computer screen with a message similar to the one below:

Federal Bureau of Investigation
All Activities of this computer has been recorded. All your files are encrypted. Don’t try to unlock your computer!
You PC [Windows version] is blocked due to at least one of the reasons specified below.
1. You have been subjected to violation of Copyright and Related Rights Law (Video, Music, Software) and illegally using or distributing copyrighted contents […]
2. You have been viewing or distributing prohibited Pornographic contents: (Child Porno photos and etc were found in [folder]). […]
3. Illegal access has been initiated from your PC without your knowledge or consent, your PC may be infected by malware, thus you are violating the law of Neglectful Use of Personal Computer. [..]

You may see the incorrect grammar used in the text which only proofs that the alert is nothing more than a scam. Please note that Police credentials are attached illegally and have nothing to do with the official authorities. Cyber criminals pretend to act in the name of various institutions from FBI to Interpol and other, depending on the country of an infected computer. The fines may vary as well, e.g. 300USD. One common feature to all of Reloadit Virus designs is that the money must be paid via prepaid payment system REloadit. The latter option is chosen because it is very difficult or almost impossible for the police to trace the money paid.

One can get infected with Reloadit Virus after downloading it bundled with a freeware and shareware such as fake video codecs, torrents, etc. Another way of distributing this Trojan is called social engineering when a victim is tricked to install the virus manually thinking it is some useful update of a program. Probably the most common way of spreading Reloadit Virus is by infiltrating it into websites. Please note that they can be completely legitimate web pages that got compromised.

Once your PC is blocked the only reasonable solution is to remove it using a reliable antimalware program such as Spyhunter. Depending on the version of Reloadit Virus and the severity of infection there are several ways. You should use the one that best suits your situation.

If an infected computer has more than one user‘s account and at least one of them is not locked, go to it. Scan your computer from this account. Spyhunter will remove Reloadit Virus from the accounts that got infected. If you cannot use this method try System Restore:

  • Press and hold F8 while it is restarting in order to select safe mode with a Command prompt.
  • When command prompt is launched, type cd restore, and then press enter.
  • Type rstrui.exe and press enter (for Windows Vista, 7 and 8, you should type : C:windowssystem32rstrui.exe; for Windows XP – C:windowssystem32restorerstrui.exe).
  • When the System Restore starts, select a restore point previous to this infection. Do not forget to scan your computer with Spyhunter for the malicious files to be removed.

If System Restore did not help to remove Reloadit Virus, check if you can get your computer into Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking:

  • Restart your computer. Press F8 while it is restarting.
  • Choose safe mode or safe mode with networking. If Reloadit Virus blocks from choosing these modes try the next Trojan removal method.
  • Launch MSConfig.
  • Disable startup items rundll32 turning on any application from Application Data. Please note, that other locations can be also used.
  • Restart the system once again.
  • Scan with https://www.2-viruses.com/downloads/spyhunter-i.exe. It should detect and delete the Reloadit Virus. Watch a video guide of a similar virus illustrating the steps above:

It might be that all of safe modes are blocked by Reloadit Virus virus. In such a case you will need another computer having Internet access. Download Spyhunter to a Bootable CD/USB disk and insert it to an infected computer. The program will start automatically and remove the infection.

  1. I just used Spyhunter to scan my computer and remove issues. I can’t fix the issues unless I purchase and register the software. When I click on “Register Now,” the window minimizes and I’m not taken to any Web site.

Please let me know what I should do.

    Thank you
