RegTool - How to remove

RegTool

RegTool is a registry cleaner and privacy application. However I can not recommend it because I do not agree with most, if not all things they find and label as risks, problems or needed for optimization.

I have tested Regtool and I am really disappointed by its results.  It found more than 22000 “privacy risks”, including (mostly) chat logs and Microsoft word edit histories. I found no way to distinguish between particular chat log entries and history entries. These histories were displayed without explanation whatever sort. This “privacy risk” is better addressed by clearing particular chat log from chat program manually. Then you can be sure you will not loose important information in other logs. Same can be done with recent file history.

Additionally it labelled Skype launcher, Adobe and Java updater startup entries as unnecessary and marked for deletion. It is ironic, as RegTool has a tab notifying about some system components “out of date”, however it wants to stop some update processes from regular checking itself. They claim, that these processes are not required for system too function and their removal will let it function faster. However, this would leave security open to risks through unpatched software like Adobe Reader.

Regtool is blocked by such legitimate security programs as ESET’s NOD32, malwarebytes antimalware, Symantec and others.

  1. Thanks for all the info. I recently had bought regtool and the anti-spyware program. Something had disabled some of my features on Spyware doctor but it’s working fine again. It told me that the antispyware from retools was a Rouge and deleted it. What was funny was, when I ran thier anti-spyware program it told me that all the game files I had on there from Mumbo Jumbo software were all adware, maleware, and trojans. It deleted every file and sub-directories. I was convince Mumbo Jumbo were in the wrong. I opoligized to them and got after the guilty ones. I sure hope regtool gives back refunds or they’ll have the FBI on their trail. I hate dishonest people. Thanks for the help!!

  2. Another comment just to verify everything to convince people that Regtool really is bogus. Just today when I was at work, one of the hackers tried chargeing something on my credit card that I used for purchasing Regtool. The transaction was canceled of course, because the bank knows I work during the day. Card was cancelled and the Click Bank told me that they will be refunding the $44.90 I paid for Regtool. I said they were hackers trying to ripp me off. And they will ripp anyone off that uses a credit card to pay for regtool. Regtool is a Rouge Program, so I advise no one, and I repeat nobody should download it, cause they’ll ripp you off for sure.

  3. My 3rd and final comment for Regtool. Yes, Regtool has a trusted web-site with Microsoft because they use Regtool as a Front for their Anti-Spyware program which is loaded with Trojans, Adware, and malware. When you first download Regtool it will do a really good scan of your computer, and it will show you all these files that are bad, along with a bunch of bogus ones. It will convince that their program is legit, and you should pay to recieve the fully functional one. I made a big mistake right there, cause a couple days after I payed for it the hackers were knocking at my back door and made over 20 some transactions on my credid card that I used to pay for Regtool.(NOT) My bank holted first charge, cause they spotted something wrong right away. It pays to have good security on your credit card when you make an error in judgement. Regtool uses their Anti-Spayware program to install Trojans on your computer to open up a back door on your computer to steal your credit card information. It’s true, cause I found out first hand. Credit card canceled, =Regtool reported to FBI. They are under investigation at the moment, so don’t purchase any of their software. And don’t let David page, Andy , or Peter convince you, because they are all hackers trying to ripp you off.

  4. As someone who has used both RegTOOL and ErrorFix (both are the same program under different names) I want to make the following points:

I do agree with you about not wanting to clean all of the “privacy risks” found. However I must point out that what is actually scanned can easily be changed by going to the “Evidence Cleaner” screen. Also “Privacy Cleaner” can be unchecked from the “1-Click Scan screen so that privacy risks are not scanned for at all.

Also I will add that one time I did a scan and went to remove the found items and it warned me that it would remove chat logs, and to deselect them if I didn’t want them to be cleaned.

Personally I pretty much never have the need or desire to clean any history lists or logs, but it seems that many people do want to do this judging my the number of privacy cleaining programs around, and that by default CCleaner deletes some privacy data.

With regards to removing “unneeded” startup items, Skype launcher, Adobe and Java updater startup entries are unnecessary. (The same goes for many program updates which run at startup.) And removing them from startup will lead to a faster Windows startup times.

Personally I would also leave them to run at startup, but other startup managers such as “The Ultimate Troubleshooter” also suggest removing of update programs from Windows startup.

Also I will add that RegTOOL itself scans for and installs missing Windows, Adobe and Java updates.

As for hackers using people’s credit cards, firstly the payments are handled by ClickBank – the publihser of the software never sees your credit card details.

Secondy, do you have any evidence to suggest that fraudlant trnsactions were made by ClickBank?

  5. Roger : CC cleaner does not clean chat logs by default. Browsing history, temporary files – thats ok. but why the hell chat logs?

Also, I find it strange, that it disables one update and suggest to download it later itself. Speedup? I doubt it. Just a way to to create a 2 things it can fix instead of none necessary. I do not believe a program which i catch doing things like that.
Now about the speed up… Skype has a setting to launch at startup or not. Many other programs have that setting as well. Users are not dumb to decide if they need such programs as skype to be run on boot up or not. Single argument remaining is to tune this in single place, but msconfig does exactly that.

  6. There is no good reason to clean chat logs by default. And I well in my opinion personally I never feel the need to clean any kind of privacy data at all. So it would be better if this was enabled by default.

Disabling startup items will lead to a speedup particuarly on computers with indequate RAM. Yes, many programs which run at startup (though not all) do have an option to stop this. But a lot of users will not use this function.

MSConfig is a useful util, but again most users will not use this tell programs not to run at startup and will end up with a lot of unneeded programs running at startup.

  7. Roger : whats the use for speedup on startup if the user will need these programs anyway? Lot of users need these programs to work and stay uptodate.
The point is why to install regtool (especially paid version), if you could create a link to msconfig at desktop ? 🙂
Lets take this from another point of view : If 50% of problems to fix are ones you should not fix (like logs, disabling updates, etc), then how good the software can be ? 🙂

  8. You can unselect any programs selected to have their startup entries disabled, if you don’t want them to be.

Also unfortunately many users don’t want to update thier software. I know a number of people who intentionally disable Windows Update, and never manually run Windows Update to check for updates.

  9. Roger : though it is close to scam suggesting to disable software updates and suggest to download the update in different place of program.
You haven’t convinced me that Regtool is any good 🙂

  10. @Roger
Wow, I can’t believe Siteadvisor’s roger_m has now found another way to clear the name of C-Net Media’s crapware products. Do not listen to this guy, he is just a ringer for Clickbank. Unlike most ringers, he doesn’t recommend the products in question, or even say they are good, he simply just says that they are not harmful programs.

  11. @Mortal Kombat Fan

I find you post rather strange.

“he is just a ringer for Clickbank. Unlike most ringers, he doesn’t recommend the products in question, or even say they are good, he simply just says that they are not harmful programs.”

If I was a “ringer” for Clickbank then basic commen sense would indicate that I would be actually reommending this program rather than merely saying it is “not hamrful.”

I once again find it bizarre that you can find a program to be “harmful” when you have neither tested itself yourself or shown me any links which give evidence to any harmful or malicious actions RegTool performs.

May I suggest that you would be better of posting about actual malicious programs to inform people about them, rather than posting your own uninformed opinions about safe programs.

  12. Roger : I have tested Reg Tool, and I would not call the program “safe” when I tested it. Not safe enough to use (aka allow “fixing” “problems”) on own PC, at least.
I got a mail that they took care of some things that I mention in my review, however I still had no time to review them.

  13. I am an idiot! I should have read th reviews BEFORE I downloaded regtools….I think it is more than aninconvience. It is worthless as far as I am conserned.

  14. hi
i completely agree that it maybe useless having a regtool as it does not make any good for your PC. I had the same experience as you MORTAL COMBAT FAN, i thought it was good but i paid for two aitems instead. fortunately they were very nice and refund it in 24h. people i dont think is Regtool’s fault but the clikbank instead, as i’m having the same problem with a different company.
so becareful with clickbank, DO NOT TRUST IT

  15. i too just found regtool to be a rogue but my reply is to luna above about clickbank. DO NOT TRUST CLICKBANK. last year i used CLICKBANK for a measly $1.87 and next thing you know my bank account was over $600 in the hole.took about 3 months to fix all the trouble.my info was spread from usa to australia.i had charges all over the world.what a pain in the a__.they claim to be secure but if you use a bank card they sell your information and you end up in a world of hurt.

  16. the problem I have noticed is that Regtool is making my computer slower than normally. when I scan regtool often it can’t open internett it takes 1-2 minutes, but when i dont use it it feels like the internett is coming before i have double clicked. I don’t know but I have stopped using it ever since i noticed
