How to remove RegSweep?
What is RegSweep?
As another rogue registry cleaner roaming the Web, RegSweep might deserve a special treatment by security analysts if it was innovative or more harmful then others of its kind. Well it doesn’t, because it’s nothing special. The good old formula of infection-scare tactics-scam never gets old, and RegSweep thrives on the same model of "business". It infects systems via trojans or by misleading users into downloading it themselves, it uses scare tactics to lead them into thinking their system is crawling with threats, and then it scams them by presenting itself as the only solutions, offering to buy its full version to "treat" the problems. Simple, yet effective. But a scam nonetheless. If you happen to have Reg Sweep on your hard drive, remove it immediately and run an anti-spyware scan on your computer.

RegSweep is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only RegSweep can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads RegSweep trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, RegSweep offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, RegSweep does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as RegSweep, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install RegSweep, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.
Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as RegSweep, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
