Quick Defrag - How to remove?
Quick Defrag is just another version of fake system defragmenters of defragger family. This has little to do with real system utilities and are, in fact, malware. Out of nowhere, Quick Defrag virus starts showing various popups and alerts trying to catch attention of PC user. Programs are stopped from launching claiming that they can not be found on hard disk or hard disk is in dire need of repair, and only Quick Defrag is able to detect and fix these errors.
During scan it will show about the same errors too:
Windows cannot find notepad.exe . Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
A critical error has occurred while indexing data stored on hard drive. System restart required.
Critical Error!Windows was unable to save all the data for the file [random name]. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware.
Windows detected a hard drive problem.
A hard drive error occurred while starting the application.
RAM memory usage is critically high. RAM memory failure.
Windows can’t find hard disk space. Hard drive error
The errors detected by this malware are not only disk related. There are a preset amount of errors detected by Quick Defrag on any PCs. Some are claiming that the disk is corrupt, some are blaming memory, or processor in Video card. None of these errors are real, as no real scan can be performed by QuickDefrag or other parasites. And if they were real, most of these problems could not be fixed by mere software. They would require change in PC hardware.
Thus it is clear that Quick Defrag is a scam, trying to convince you into buying full version of this scamware. Do not trust them or any application you haven’t installed yourself!. If you pay for this rogue, it is more than likely that you will not only loose the amount you paid, but you will be charged randomly again from other “companies”, as your credict card details will be known to the makers of this scam. None rogue applications can be trusted and you should remove Quick Defrag as soon as you start noticing its popups.
To simplify removal of Quick Defrag, there are keys known that work with all parasites of this family. They disable the annoying popups of this application and allow launching of some of antivirus and antispyware applications that can remove them automatically. The key is 0973467457475070215340537432225 and should work with this rogue as well. Afterwards scan with spyhunter, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or other good anti-malware tool to get rid of trojans or remove them manually (information how to find Quick Defrag files bellow). It is highly recommended to upgrade your PC’s protection software to avoid the hassle in the future. Getting rid of such parasite is more complex than preventing the infections.
