Once this program was installed on my friend's PC it placed a registry entry to start up upon boot-up his computer and proceeded to scan for viruses. It is all a false scan. At this time none of the desktop icons were allowed to load, he could not exit this scan program and none of the HELP functions of Windows would work. All are locked out somehow and the program claims that 'help' is infected with a worm. We used a Search and Destroy program in Safe Mode to try to clean the computer. It did NOT work. I booted his computer into Safe Mode with a C: prompt and entered a command (%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe )to go to RESTORE. I then restored the computer to an earlier date, before this malware was installed. That fixed the computer. RESTORE is not available in the standard Safe Mode and it was also locked out when the PC was booted normally. A command had to be entered manually.

Use McAfee supdat 5796. It can remove personal guard 2009.
Although personal guard 2009 will restore one minute later, but McAfee will
keep deleting it. Not a completely remove.

just went through this yesterday and finally got it cleaned after a couple of hours...the trick is to download (I am trying to find the site now) and randomly renamed executable for Malwarebytes. once I got that the whole thing worked...also several of the sites say run the quick scan...Malwarebytes wasn't completely effective until I ran a deep scan. also one last thing...restart do not completely shut down...if you flush the cash the file that need to be deleted on reboot will be flushed from the que and you are back to square one.

After the first reboot I was no longer able to open my internet browser so I cannot even dl any of these antispyware programs to clean PG2009 out of my system. I keep getting a Trends PC-cillian notification that winsc.exe has a virus so it gets quarantined. So how can I get it to my computer?

Roman and OMG I am in the same boat. Please help someone! I am unemployed, don't have the money to spend on spydoctor either and need my compter to job search! I have tried the manual steps to no avail. I can't get malwarebytes to install. If either of you can, I think that might be our answer.

This little bugger likes to drop hidden autorun.exe and autorun.inf on flash drives. It will overwrite these files if present on the flash drive already.
