How to remove PCAntispyware?
What is PCAntispyware?
PCAntispyware is a corrupt anti-spyware application (and a clone of PCCleaner), and is one of the numerous fake system tools roaming the Web at any given time. Neither this scam, nor its methods of infection do not differ from other rogues out there. To put it simply, PCAntispyware infects the system by using trojans and uses scare tactics to prove its usefulness, which is a rather difficult task for an illegitimate program.
Once inside and active, PCAntispyware generates endless amounts of pop-ups and fake system notifications to "inform" the user of an infection. This infection is most likely non-existent, but disinformation is the whole point of such attacks.
PCAntispyware’s website isn’t any different than any other rogue’s: there is actually less useful content in pc-antispyware.com than even most rogue websites provide: there is no contact information, there is no legitimate payment system and the domain’s registration info is rather weird.
PCAntispyware is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block pc-antispyware.com using your HOSTS file.

PCAntispyware is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only PCAntispyware can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads PCAntispyware trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, PCAntispyware offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, PCAntispyware does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as PCAntispyware, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install PCAntispyware, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.
Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as PCAntispyware, is nearly impossible to remove manually.

Obviously I got this problem or I woulnt be at this site. My OS is Vista Home I have gotten rid of the problem that kept putting a virus on the computer ( It damn near doubled each time I scanned. However I have not been able to stop the pop ups . I ran Windows Defender, Micro Trend PC-cillin, and Smitfraudfix, but I cant get rid of the feakin pop ups. Is there anything that works that is safe to run on Vista? All I see are solutions for XP, or 2000. Please help the computer is relatively new.
I have precisely the same problem with Windows XP, and none of the software I have used effectively in the past works. In addition to those programs Mike used, I used Spyware Doctor, PC Doctor, Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware, Housecall, Avast, Norton, and McAffee. There are no files or registry entries with pc-antispyware or pcantispyware in them. Nor have I found any files or registry entries with any of the other alphanumeric sequences supposesly accompanying this infection. I am reltively sophisticated, and I could have reformatted and reloaded everying on the drive in the amount of time I have spent attempting to understand and kill this infection.
I got infected with this virus today. Apart from hijacking my wallpaper and screensaver functions, it has also locked out ‘Remote Access Connection Manager’ in the services. When I try to disable it, the system attempts to close the service then comes up with a ’1052′ error. How can I get the screen and services sections brought back to normal without a reinstall?
PS, I forgot to mention my inability to close the Terminal Service and I also cannot get ‘Automatic updates’ from MS Security. Incidentally, the programme does deliver viruses. One of the ones mentioned on the wallpaper, ‘Virtumonde’ actually appeared as infections on Avast and Ad-Aware
