How to remove MySpyProtector?
What is MySpyProtector?
MySpyProtector is a rogue anti-spyware application of an obviously scammy nature. It was released on the 7th of November, 2007. This particular scam doesn’t really stand out and generally does what every other rogue security program does: it fools users into trusting the program’s authenticity and effectiveness thus leading them into buying the full version. You get infected with MySpyProtector (though it is not an infection per se) by downloading and installing it manually.
Once downloaded, the trial version allows you to perform a scan, which commonly takes an unusually short time. The scan produces a falsified report, which flags files or programs it itself has created as "errors". These errors can supposedly be disposed of using the full version. The catch is, this full version costs money, but doesn’t really do anything useful whatsoever.
MySpyProtector’s homepage, myspyprotector.com, is a clear giveaway of what it really is and by that I don’t mean "a magnificent tool", but rather a scam and a very bad one at that. The first thing that one notices when the page opens are the "MSP Awards", 11 of them, which the program received the same day it was released - fairly impressive. The same goes for the 8,069,123 that have supposedly bought it and are using it. Judging by the "Features", I’d say MSP went for a "team of superheros" approach to spyware-hunting, since all five of them sound like superheros: "Powerful Spyware Eliminator", "Protective Hi-Jack Killer" etc. The website contains quite a few extreme overstatements, such as those saying that you are infected if you have downloaded music online or if your computer is running slower.
MySpyProtector is a scam and should be treated as such: do not go to their website, do not download or buy it, block myspyprotector.com in your host files.

MySpyProtector is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only MySpyProtector can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads MySpyProtector trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, MySpyProtector offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, MySpyProtector does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as MySpyProtector, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install MySpyProtector, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.
Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as MySpyProtector, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
