How to remove My Supervisor 2009?

March 5th, 2009

What is My Supervisor 2009?

My Supervisor 2009 is a new version of the not-so-successful rogue security suite My Supervisor. Both of these parasites were created for the sole purpose of making money. Of course, the program doesn’t actually have to work to be profitable. Much like any other rogue, My Supervisor 2009 uses illicit methods both to spread and to sell. Typically this rogue will enter the system by using the trojan Zlob, which is disguised as a video codec and found in porn/warez websites. Another way to get infected is through spam mail, and, last but not least, by downloading and installing the application manually.

Upon entering the system, My Supervisor 2009 begins feeding the user disinformation, which comes in the form of pop-ups, system notifications and system scans. All of these try to create the illusion, that the user’s system is infected/privacy has been compromised/registry has errors, and that he is in need of a security program to take care of whatever the issue is. My Supervisor 2009 will also hijack the browser and redirect the user to various websites, a great part of which may lead to additional infections.

The rogues website, mysupervisor.net, greets the user with a popup, which says there is a privacy breach, and that My Supervisor will scan the system immediately. That’s about it though – the page doesn’t seem to be working anymore.

My Supervisor is a scam – don’t believe it, don’t buy it and remove it immediately if you detect it. Blocking mysupervisor.net using your HOSTS file is also a good idea.
