How to remove My Supervisor?

February 3rd, 2009

What is My Supervisor?

My Supervisor is a new rogue application, released by the people behind Virus Doctor Freeware. This particular parasite pretends to be an all-in-one application, which supposedly takes care of autoruns, privacy, services and infections of the system. My Supervisor typically gets installed by Virus Doctor Freeware, when the user clicks on any of the popups that Virus Doctor Freeware uses. This parasite will try to trick the user into purchasing it’s "licensed version" by feeding him disinformation.

Once inside and active, My Supervisor allows the user to run multiple utilities, checking for privacy issues, infections etc. All of these will produce exaggerated or completely bogus reports, leading the user to believe that his system has serious issues that need to be dealt with. The only solution My Supervisor is going to propose, is to purchase the full version.

My Supervisor is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block it’s homepage using your HOSTS file.

My Supervisor is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only My Supervisor can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads My Supervisor trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, My Supervisor offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, My Supervisor does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as My Supervisor, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install My Supervisor, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as My Supervisor, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
