Music Box Toolbar is a browser hijacker that can be installed to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. The program changes your browser settings by adding a toolbar there, altering your homepage to home.tb.ask.com and default search provider to search.tb.ask.com. The program also displays various advertisements that contain sponsored links and seeks to make users click on them.

Music Box Toolbar is installed just like most of potentially unwanted programs. If comes bundled with various free programs, like video players or some other applications. You can avoid it, if you pay attention to the installation steps of these programs and deselect an option to install Music Box Toolbar. Otherwise it will be installed to your computer without asking if you are sure you want to get it.

It is not only annoying to have all those changes in your browser but also Music Box Toolbar causes redirections which can even lead you to malicious websites. The program displays tons of ads while you are using your browser which contain sponsored links. In fact, Music Box Toolbar is making money by increasing traffic of specific pages.

Although it’s not a virus, the program causes many unwanted actions and can even lead to getting infections to your computer. For this reason it is highly recommended to remove Music Box Toolbar as soon as you detect it on your browser. To eliminate this unwanted program, Go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome and remove it from there. If you do not see it listed, you should use antimalware tools like SpyHunter and scan your computer with it. If you had redirecting issues, you might need to reset your home page and search engine to the one you used before:

On Internet explorer:

  1. Click arrow on the right of search box;
  2. Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search providers, on ie7 click change search defaults;
  3. Remove Music Box Toolbar from the list.

On Firefox :

  1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page;
  2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  5. Search for ‘browser.newtab.url’. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar;
  2. Select Settings;
  3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines;
  4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list;
  5. Go back to settings. On Startup choose open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).

Please note, it is very important to scan your computer with a reliable antimalware program after Music Box Toolbar is removed as it might be your system got infected with viruses while having it.
