MacVX - How to remove

MacVX

MacVX may seem to be useful if you want to watch online videos faster and at a higher quality. The features of this tool look promissing at the first sight. However, there is a downside of this application and a pretty rough one. MacVX is classified as an adware and a PUP (potentially unwanted program) because it shows continuous ads on your favourite web browser. This browser add-on operates on all most popular web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.  Because MacVX is an ad-supporter, ads come from the third parties and are often fake ones. You should think twice before clicking on those offers because if you do so, you will be immediately redirected to the websites that may be infected by cyber criminals and do harm to your computer. The main goal of MacVX is to generate as big as possible web traffic to their sponsors’ websites and make users buy their products or services. They earn money this way. And for that same reason, MacVX will collect your personal information, such as search queries, top visited sites, IP address or browsing history. According to this data they can see all your interests and browsing habits. Later on these entries are transferred to the mentioned third parties. They adjust their ads according to the given data and make them more relevant to you, so the chances that you will click on the offer rise. Even though it’s not officially a dangerous virus, MAcVX can lead you to some serious cyber security problems, therefore it needs to be removed as soon as possible.

MacVX can be downloaded from its official website but usually it’s not the case. MacVx comes bundled with other software that can be found on the Internet and downloaded for free (valid or semi-valid software). That being said, you need to be very attentive during the installation of tools downloaded from a website with a questionable reputation. Don’t skip any steps and opt out for a custom or advanced install mode which makes it possible to be able to see all properties. Read all terms and conditions and make sure you are aware of what is being installed on your computer. If it is too late and your PC is already infected with MacVX, you should scan it with a trustworthy anti-malware, such as Spyhunter or malwarebytes. It will detect and remove the threat automatically. In case you prefer to do this by your own, just follow a several simple steps of MAcVX removal shown below.

How to uninstall MacVX

Using Control Panel to remove the main MacVX components and installers

  1. Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
  2. Look for MacVX and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related. Scanning with Anti-Malware programs like Spyhunter or Stopzilla might give a good idea of what programs you should remove from there as well.
  3. Close Control Panel.
