Luxemil Redirect is a browser hijacker that can be added as a toolbar to any of Internet browsers. It installs itself after a computer user visits illegal or malicious websites; downloads freeware or shareware from untrustworthy sources or opens spam emails. Any of these ways is used for aggressive distribution of Luxemil Redirect. The developers of this browser hijacker earn money by showing advertisements and increasing traffic to their sites.

After Luxemil toolbar is installed, it changes your default browser settings. If you use more than one browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox Mozilla, Google Chrome or Apple Safari, the changes will affect all of them. Your search and home pages will be locked and changed to tracking999.com. If you try to do a search entering Google, Bing or other search page as your preferred, you will be redirected to tracking999.com results page. It will be basically impossible to perform any search. One more irritating feature of Luxemil Redirect is that whenever your computer is connected to Internet, you will be bombarded with hundreds of pop-up advertisements. Moreover Luxemil Redirect might monitor your Internet browsing behavior and send this sensitive information to third parties, like marketing campaigns. This is a clear breach of your privacy rights.

If this browser hijacker was installed without your permission, it is very likely that this was done with a help of other malware therefore your computer might contain more viruses. There is no doubt Luxemil Redirect should be removed from the system. Alas, simple uninstall wizard will not work in many cases.

If you have installed Luxemil toolbar by yourself and wish to remove it, here are its removal instructions:

  1. Scan your system with a reputable antispyware tool, for example, Spyhunter or Hitman Pro. Note, it is very likely Luxemil toolbar was installed with a help of malware therefore it is essential to remove any threads.
  2. Go to control panel. Uninstall Luxemil Toolbar. It is highly recommended to uninstall any other unknown programs that got into the system the same day.
  3. Open your browser. Go to extensions/pluggins. Check out that there is nothing Luxemil related. Delete all extensions that are made by anything else than Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, Sun or Google.
  4. You will have to reset your Search provider.

On IE:

  • Click arrow on the right of search box;
  • On IE8-9 choose Manage Search providers;
  • On ie7 click change search defaults;
  • Remove Luxemil from the list.

On Firefox :

  • In url field type “about:config” (without the quotes) and do following =>
  • Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  • Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.

On Google Chrome:

  • Click gear icon on browser toolbar;
  • Select Settings;
  • Select Basics ->Manage Search engines;
  • Remove Luxemil from list.
