Latvijas Policijas Virus - How to remove

Latvijas Policijas (Latvian Police) Virus is a scam that swindles money from infected computer users by convincing them that they committed a crime therefore they need to pay a fine. A well thought of scheme is used that has been checked in many other countries just under different names. Those that are familiar with FBI virus, Ukash Trojan, West Yorkshire Police virus, will recognize the same style of cyber criminals.

After infiltrating into the system Latvijas Policijas Virus blocks a computer and displays a screen informing about what happened. The message states that a computer is locked by a local police due to a breach of laws. These are listed in the text. A user of an infected machine might be faulty of illegal use and distribution of movies, music, videos or even child pornography. For the charges to be removed and a computer to be unblocked, one must pay a fine of 50 LVL:

A computer can get infected with Latvijas Policijas Virus if a computer user visits malicious websites or downloads files bundled with Trojan horses. To avoid infection one should follow safe Internet use tips and have computer security up to date.  This includes updates to Adobe Reader, Flash or Java packages as well, because these softwares have various vulnerabilities that allow remote execution of malicious code.

If a computer is blocked, depending on the version of Latvijas Policijas Virus, there is more than one way to remove it. If you can launch your computer in safe mode, follow these steps:

1. Restart your computer; press F8 while it is restarting;
2. Choose safe mode with networking;
3. Launch MSConfig;
4. Disable startup items rundll32 turning on any application from Application Data;
5. Restart the system once again.
6. Scan with https://www.2-viruses.com/downloads/spyhunter-i.exe to identify file and delete it.

If you cannot launch your computer is a safe mode, run antimalware program when there is a short gap between turning on of your computer and a blocking screen and do this:

1. Reboot normally.
2. Start->Run.
3. Enter : http://2-viruses.com/downloads/spyhunter-i.exe . If malware is loaded, just press alt+tab once and keep entering the string blindly. Press Enter.
4. Press Alt+tab and then R couple times. The Latvijas Policijas Virus should be eliminated.
