How to remove General Antivirus?

What is General Antivirus?

General Antivirus is latest rename of Spyware Guard 2009, Internet Antivirus Plus and Antivirus 36o. As we can see the names become more generic each day to give virus  manufacturers more freedom of confusing victims. Of couse, you can promote such fake remover like General Antivirus  without help of trojans planted in user system.

There are several signs that you are infected with General Antivirus, including fake windows security center (havent we seen that many times before? ), fake windows alerts stating that your computer is under attack or that you are infected by a parasite and random messages in Internet Explorer. They have lots of imagination at naming alerts too: some of General antivirus alerts are from “firewall”, some “Infiltration Alerts” are labeled as generated by windows system itself, or Internet Explorer. Of couse, all these are fakes, though inexperienced user might not see the difference.

After you download the General Antivirus remover software itself, it will start a PC scan and try to scare you with various threats found. Of couse, it will not detect itself and affiliated parasites. The files “detected” will be innocent system files mostly, which deletion would harm your PC. Of couse, before removing the parasites,  General Antivirus will ask for your bank/credit card details. Do not believe this piece of software.

We do not recommend installing General Antivirus on your PC, and if you see system alerts promoting them, remove them as soon as possible using manual instructions or scaning your PC with reputable anti-spyware like Spyware Doctor.

General Antivirus is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only General Antivirus can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads General Antivirus trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, General Antivirus offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, General Antivirus does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as General Antivirus, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install General Antivirus, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as General Antivirus, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
