How to remove Fix Tool?

What is Fix Tool?

Fix Tool is a new registry cleaner, and like pretty much any registry cleaner out there, it is also a complete scam. Fix Tool is actually a fake registry cleaner, which depends on misleading advertising to make sales. This parasite usually enters the system by using the infamous Zlob trojan, which hides behind the inconspicuous mask of a video codec and can be found on many malicious websites.

Upon entering the system, Fix Tool proceeds to spam the user with fake system notifications and popups, which are supposed to be an alert that the user’s Windows registry has serious errors, which have to be taken care of. While this is likely true (pretty much any registry has these), Fix Tool can neither detect malicious/useless registry entries, nor can it take care of them. The same goes for the registry scans – they are completely simulated and usually contain only false positives. Much like any other rogue, Fix Tool tends to hijack the browser and significantly decreases system performance.

Fix Tool is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block fix-tool.com using your HOSTS file.

Fix Tool is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only Fix Tool can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads Fix Tool trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, Fix Tool offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, Fix Tool does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Fix Tool, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install Fix Tool, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Fix Tool, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
