How to remove Easy Error?

April 27th, 2009

What is Easy Error?

Easy Error is a fake registry cleaner, and as such it is no different than any other registry cleaner. What is different about Easy Error, however, is the way it works. This parasite enters the system by using the Zlob trojan and it occasionally travels by spam-mail. Easy Error relies on misleading advertising to sell it’s fake software.

Upon entering the system, Easy Error proceeds to flood the user with misleading popups and system notifications, which claim that there are serious errors in the Windows registry (which is almost always true anyway). Easy Error will perform fake registry scans, which return equally fake results. Much like any other rogue, this one will also hijack the browser and use a lot of system resources.

Easy Error is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block it’s homepage using your HOSTS file.

Note: Error Easy is a different fake registry cleaner, but it shares the design and some files of Easy Error. Some of the files and registry entries listed below belong to one of these and some to the other.

Easy Error is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only Easy Error can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads Easy Error trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, Easy Error offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, Easy Error does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Easy Error, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install Easy Error, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Easy Error, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
