What is DefendAPc?

DefendAPc (also can be called Defend APc) is a fake security application that was released recently by WiniGuard family of rogues. Defend APc uses malicious tactics trying to scare PC users and seeks only to rip them off by offering to purchase its “full” version. It usually comes unexpectedly with a help of trojans, so keep your anti-spyware program up to date and prevent DefendAPc or other rogues from breaking into your PC successfully.

Defend APc malware is designed to start once after being installed into the system and fake security alerts and messages are displayed for the user immediately after that. When in the compromised machine, the same Trojans that usually distribute this malware also create fake files with random filenames. Later, after DefendAPc scans the system all these files are announced for the user as viruses trying to make him scared. Moreover, messages reporting about various spyware actions detected completely bombard the user and usually look like that:

All the infections reported by application do not pose any harm and in truth only DefendAPc must be deleted immediately after detection. Note! At least one installer of this rogue includes a rootkit infection called TDL3, so using a reputable anti-spyware when deleting DefendAPc is highly recommended.

After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only DefendAPc can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads DefendAPc trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, DefendAPc offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, DefendAPc does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as DefendAPc, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. It then proceeds to download or even install DefendAPc, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as DefendAPc, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
