What is Data Protection?

Data Protection is another rogue antispyware program that belongs to the same family of rogue programs as Digital Protection, Your Protection or User Protection. The application enters the system without a slightest notification to its user. It typically uses Trojan viruses for infiltration purposes. As soon as Data Protection gets access to the targeted system, it attempts to ensure itself protection from being removed by uninstalling your legitimate security tools. Affected products include :

Actually it’s a bogus scanner which is not able to detect any real threats, so instead it displays some legitimate programs or non-existent files. Data Protection recommends purchasing its full version in order to get rid of the infections.

Additionally to this bogus scanner, the program generates fake pop up ads and security notifications. Basically, such alerts warn about spyware infections detected and promote purchasing Data Protection in order to fix the existing infections and protect your system against future threats.

To make things more interesting, Data Protection creates couple links to porno sites on the user desktop. This is to force them further to buy “full version” of this scam, as many users think that their privacy is compromised.

As you see, any offers by Data Protection must be ignored. If it happened to you to purchase this fake program, immediately contact your credit card company and dispute the charges. Most importantly, remove Data Protection as soon as possible.
