What is Contraviro?
Contraviro is a fake anti-spyware program that has been produced by minimally changing the skin of Unvirex. Even the name Contraviro is similar to former rogue ContraVirus. The parasite uses deceptive advertisements to promote itself claiming that your PC is infected with various parasites or has significant security risks without actually scanning your PC. After the install, it will bug you each computer boot with falsified scan results trying to convince you into buying the full version.
Do not delete files found by Contraviro! Most of them are legitimate Microsoft processes that are required for the system to function properly. Their deletion will impact computer performance and might lead to the computer being unusable. This is desired by crooks behind Contraviro rogue program – they want to mess your PC so much that you would consider following their advice.
Contraviro relies on misleading advertising to trick users into purchasing its “licensed version”. I strongly suggest not to pay for Contra Viro, since the creators of this malware will not be shy to overcharge for this poor product, or sell your card details to other crooks. Contraviro is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only Contraviro can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads Contraviro trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, Contraviro offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, Contraviro does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Contraviro, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement.
