What is ContentEraser?

ContentEraser is fake security tool. It offers multiple privacy and security protection services, but it is actually a malware. Content Eraser is distributed by trojans like Zlob and Vundo. Usually it is installed secretly and it doesn’t provide uninstall option. ContentEraser attacks users with many fabricated security reports and offers fixing the imaginary issues for $80. The price is way too big for a computer parasite; don’t be tricked and don’t pay for the program that invaded your computer.

Content Eraser makes up various privacy problems. It supposedly detects evidences of visited adult websites. It also “finds” files downloaded without user’s permission and reports credit card details being targeted by attackers. ContentEraser also offers erasing chat history on various instant messengers. All the problems reported by this program is falsified and you can be sure that it won’t clean a computer after you pay for a full version.

Contenteraser.com should also raise suspicions: there’s no information about creators and no way to contact the company unless you purchase a license. Terms and conditions and privacy policy are even worse. By downloading Content Eraser, user allows the software to collect personal information. If ContentEraser is installed on a computer, user automatically allows it to “supply links to the sites of affiliated companies”. Keep in mind that this program is installed without users’ permission and people can’t choose if they want Content Eraser to mess with their computers. Remove this malware as soon as possible.

ContentEraser is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only ContentEraser can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads ContentEraser trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, ContentEraser offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, ContentEraser not only does not fix the errors, but it takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as ContentEraser, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install ContentEraser, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as ContentEraser, is nearly impossible to remove manually.

How to tell if your PC has been infected by a Rogue Anti-Spyware such as ContentEraser?

Numerous undesirable and annoying pop-ups: A typical Rogue Anti-Spyware parasite keeps track of your internet browsing habits, sending your browsing history data to remote servers, owned by third party companies that use this information to advertise their products via numerous pop-ups, toolbars, hijacked homepages and spam letters. All these undesirable advertising methods are used on the victims of Rogue Anti-Spyware.
Changed or new icons: Sometimes, Rogue Anti-Spyware installs unwanted software to a victim’s PC without user’s knowledge and consent. This may lead to slower PC performance and stability, as well as more unwanted programs you can't remove.
