How is BringMeSports installed

Over the years that it’s existed, BringMeSports was installed on tens of thousands of computers.

Recently some users have reported that BringMeSports was added to their browsers after downloading some free software, for example, music or video player, PDF creator, etc., without asking for any separate confirmation. Other people installed it on their own after being seduced by deceptive advertising. Either way, BringMeSports doesn’t always get installed honestly.

BringMeSports promised to give users quick access to live streams of football, hockey, basketball, and other sports. That doesn’t work because BringMeSports does nothing of the sort. Sports fanatics won’t get much out of this extension, as all it does is provide links to other sports websites.

Problems with BringMeSports

If you have noticed BringMeSports Toolbar on your browser and you haven’t downloaded it by yourself, you should consider removing it as it will hinder your usual browsing. BringMeSports hijacks your browser homepage and makes web search results show more ads. On top of being useless, it wastes your time.

At first, BringMeSports will change your browser homepage to home.tb.ask.com or to hp.myway.com/bringmesports and your default search engine to search.tb.ask.com or search.myway.com without your permission. It will also alter your search results by including lots of sponsored links every time you make an inquiry on the Internet. This activity is meant to increase the traffic of some commercial pages and inflate their page ranking in search results, making some ad money from you.

BringMeSports is very similar to BigGameCountdown, a newer sports-focused toolbar by the same developer. Other examples of similar toolbars include TrackaPackage and MapMyWayFree.

Avoid unwanted toolbars

To avoid BringMeSports Toolbar, you should be careful of bundlers. Every time you install a new program to your computer, you should closely check every installation step. If you see any attempts to make changes in your browser settings, do not allow them. Usually, unwanted changes and additional applications are marked to be installed by default together with the main software to which they are bundled. You must uncheck them to stop them from being installed.

Also, be skeptical of sites that promise to let you watch sports streams for free. Sometimes toolbar ads overpromise and trick people to install extensions they may not want – like BringMeSports’ page promised sports streams only to point you to third-party sites. Pages that promise to let you watch streams in Ultra HD for free and with no limitations often lead to scams. So, make sure that a service or site is safe before diving in.

If BringMeSports Toolbar has already been installed to your Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome without your permission, you should remove it to ensure that your computer is safe. You can do it on your own, or you can use an antivirus program: we recommend SpyHunter for PC or Combo Cleaner for Mac, but any professional program will do.

Update of 1st of March, 2017. Even though we first detected this questionable browser extension back in 2014, MindSpark is not giving up on it. Recently, we noticed a wave of promotional content from MindSpark. It promotes a bunch of its applications and this relatively old browser hijacker BringMeSports is included. If you are introduced with advertisements for BringMeSports browser extension, do not believe the statements that MindSpark makes about it. Even though this company has a pretty decent reputation, its browser add-ons are doubted by many security analysts.  Since BringMeSports is classified as a browser hijacker, you should remove every trace of it from your device.
