Blinkx virus is an advertising program that displays in-text advertisements claiming to be from blinkx.com. This website is legitimate, however the advertisings displayed are not. If you start seeing a new underlined text in websites you visit and afterr hovering on them you will be shown an advertising window, your PC might be infected.
Blinkx virus is installed to computers with a help of Trojans. The simplest version of Trojans is software bundles that install adware and hijackers together with “free” applications. In some cases the software mentioned does not do anything useful at all. It is also possible to get infected with Blinkx and other adware platforms through exploits.
The malware itself is a browser extension. This allows infecting not only PCs, but Mac and Linux browsers as well (Chrome and Firefox) as long as the malware distributors create Trojans for appropriate platforms.
To remove Blinkx virus from your computer, I highly recommend scanning your PC with a reputable antispyware program, for example, spyhunter, Hitman Pro. Then uninstall unknown programs from Control Panel and remove appropriate extensions from your browser.
