Beamrise Search is one more browser hijacker that enters computers bundled with other programs and can be installed to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers. The program claims to unite browsing and chatting functions, but in fact it is an unwanted program. Once installed, it will change your homepage, default search engine and add Beamrise Toolbar to your computer. The purpose if this program is to advertise lots of sponsored websites and collect information about your browsing habits.

Beamrise Search is added to your system together with some other program that you can download from the Internet. Usually the users are not aware of additional applications reaching their systems although it is possible to notice it. Usually additional program are listed at one of the last steps of installation where you are able to deselect unwanted programs. It is recommended never install unknown or suspicious applications.

If you have noticed that your homepage and default search engine have suddenly changed to search.beamrise.com and you are constantly experiencing redirects to unknown websites, your system has been hijacked. It is highly recommended to remove Beamrise Search from your computer as soon as you detect it, as the program can contribute to serious security issues. It can even steal your passwords and pass it to third parties as the program is able to record your browsing activity.

To remove Beamrise Search, go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. It is important that you remove all other programs installed with the hijacker, as some of them might redownload or reset back browser settings. Scan with Spyhunter as it identifies such programs quite well. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. If you do not see Beamrise Search listed, you should use antimalware tools like Spyhunter and scan your computer with it. Uninstalling the program from your computer doesn’t change your search providers, it only stops ads appearing on your computer. You will have to do it manually by yourself. Depending on the browser you are using, follow the instructions below:

On Internet explorer:

  1. Click arrow on the right of search box.
  2. Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search Providers, on IE7 click Change Search Defaults.
  3. Remove Beamrise Search from the list.

On Firefox :

  1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page.
  2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  5. Search for “browser.newtab.url”. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines.
  4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list.
  5. Go back to Settings. On Startup choose Open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).
