How to remove Badware Protector?

What is Badware Protector?

Badware Protector is a rogue security program, and a lame-sounding one at that. This fake spyware remover enters the system by using the Zlob trojan, which is usually disguised as a video codec online. Badware Protector relies on misleading advertising to trick people into purchasing it’s “licensed version”.

Once inside and active, Badware Protector will flood the user with popups and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform him of an infection or multiple infections present on the system. While this information is oftentimes correct (catching Badware Protector requires quite a bit of carelessness), this parasite has neither the ability to detect spyware, nor remove it. Much like any other rogue, Badware Protector will perform fake system scans, which produce greatly exaggerated results, thus further deceiving the user. As if that’s not enough, Badware Protector will also significantly worsen the overall system performance and, possibly, hijack the browser.

Badware Protector is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block it’s homepage using your HOSTS file.

Badware Protector is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only Badware Protector can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads Badware Protector trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, Badware Protector offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, Badware Protector does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Badware Protector, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install Badware Protector, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as Badware Protector, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
