How to remove AntiVirusPro?

What is AntiVirusPro?

The day is October 2, 2007, and the rogue anti-virus program of the day goes by an expected name of AntiVirusPro (Pro, for Proffesional at stealing people’s money no less). Not unlike any other of these parasites, which come around daily, this one uses the exact same scheme. It is usually installed manually, after an annoying-warning-pop-up-or-two.

AntiVirusPro is a program, supposedly like no other, which generates false threats in the form of pop-ups and system notifications, in hopes that the user will click on them in order to get rid of the threats, in which case he or she is taken to a trial version of the program. The trial version then scans the user’s system and falsifies the report so it includes numerous threats. Of course, you cannot use the trial to remove the threats and are prompted to buy the full version. This is the major twist: the full version sucks just as much as the trial, only you just payed for it (a.k.a forget about that fancy date you we’re going to take your girlfriend on).

In order for this sad scenario not to happen, do not trust any software that is not produced by a known vendor, a vendor that has a normal website complete with contact information for starters. If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably only good for losing your money into the void. If you already have the program, dispose of it immediately.

AntivirusPro may also be reffered to as AntivirusPro 2008. Do not trust any website that sells Antivirus Pro or AntivirusPro2008. Block its homepage Anti-virus-Pro.com using HOSTS file.

AntiVirusPro is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only AntiVirusPro can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads AntiVirusPro trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, AntiVirusPro offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, AntiVirusPro does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as AntiVirusPro, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install AntiVirusPro, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as AntiVirusPro, is nearly impossible to remove manually.

How to tell if your PC has been infected by a Rogue Anti-Spyware such as AntiVirusPro?

Numerous undesirable and annoying pop-ups: A typical Rogue Anti-Spyware parasite keeps track of your internet browsing habits, sending your browsing history data to remote servers, owned by third party companies that use this information to advertise their products via numerous pop-ups, toolbars, hijacked homepages and spam letters. This virus or whatever it is, is nasty. I am great with computers some would consider me an expert and this thing came up out of the blue and infected my computer. It disabled my antivirus/spyware program. It also repairs itself at a rapid rate. I hope I never experience anything like this. The thing also knows when you are trying to delete it. So best of luck to you. I would take the above advice and higher an IT expert.
