AntiVirus Demo is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only AntiVirus Demo can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads AntiVirus Demo trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, AntiVirus Demo offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, AntiVirus Demo does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as AntiVirus Demo, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install AntiVirus Demo, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.
Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as AntiVirus Demo, is nearly impossible to remove manually.

well, i got this one. i’m in safe mode using microsoft security essentials and mse found nothing. how-a-bout a system restore?
I am so mad!!! this one just popped up on my computer and started scanning. I didn’t tell it to or anything, I tried to shuti ti down but it would not let me. It is ruining my computer in just a few hours. I can’t get online with most of my programs, It disabled task manger and regedit so you can’t get to it. I did try to find it with the names they call it on here but they have changed the name – smart jerks – now it’s to a very long name. I initially disabled it in task manager right after and it stopped it but I cannot find it to get rid of it because they don’t call it AV anything, it’s a long messed up name so how to you find it to get rid of it? I want to sue these jerks if they are a real company and hold you hostage to buy their program, although I think this is a bad virus, I can’t see anything but doing system restore at this point, but I am going to have restore it another way since it disabled that too. This is the worst virus I have ever gotten. And my antivirus, spyware remover and firewall did not catch it. Now other computers are infected.
