Antispyware 2008 XP is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only Antispyware 2008 XP can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads Antispyware 2008 XP trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. I picked up XP Antispyware 2008 malware on August 7th.
I believe I was infected by software from the site ‘www.mininova.org’
All timestamps on every file in my PC now have ‘VIRUS ALERT’ appended to them.
Even my System Restore backup files have this message tagged on, so System Restore is rendered useless!
i dont think mininova.org is responsible cuz im on that site all the time for my torrent needs. but i do have the same problem and i orginally didnt have a virus program on my comp so its a real pain. in fact i am trying to install nortan but it has just told me that registry editing has been turned off. its really doing a number on my system
