Newly launched Google Buzz became a victim of hackers
Perhaps you have already heard about Google Buzz application that is becoming more and more popular as many people are more impatient to try it out. It’s not a big surprise that this new application caught an eye of cyber criminals as well, despite the fact that it’s pretty new.
Comparing to attacks on other social networks, like Twitter, cyber criminals have improved a lot. Before, it took a little more time for the spammers to target the program. This time it took just couple of days.
Security Experts have announced that a common Web programming error helped the hackers to take control of Google Buzz. It attacked the users of Google Buzz for mobile. The error allowed the attacker to use his own scripting code into reliable and commonly used Internet websites, like Google.com. It’s quite a well-known flaw but it can cause extremely damaging results.
The cyber criminal can make the attacked one follow people he doesn’t want or say things that he doesn’t want to say, in other words, every feature of Google Buzz can be used against you, without your knowledge or permission. The attacker is also able to make phishing attacks.
As soon as this bug was detected, the Google spokesman ensured that they do their best to solve the problem as soon as possible. On Wednesday, Google spokesman Jay Nancarrow announced that the problem has been fixed. He also stressed that the mentioned vulnerability didn’t do that much harm.
