Don't believe "Dislike" feature on Facebook

August 30th, 2010

You must have already heard about these scams on Facebook that are based on creating curiosity for user at the beginning but after being clicked give the access to profile and personal information. It has become quite usual and common to get a suggestion to watch a “shocking video” or read about some kind of “celebrity scandal” but now it seems like many Facebook members have already wised up about this scam and don’t click on it so generally anymore.

However, scammers let a new fake feature which has been recognized to be spread on Facebook these days and this time it’s called “official dislike button”. You should know that there are various types of this misleading message but they all promise and encourage users to update Facebook status and get the “official Dislike button”. For example:

“I just got the Dislike button, so now I can dislike all of your dumb posts lol!! LINK”

and

“Get the official DISLIKE button NOW! – LINK”

Just like on the previous situation with other scams, after being clicked this link gives a supposedly legitimate access to Facebook accounts where they can be simply hacked.

If you are a member of Facebook, you should be careful and avoid clicking on links you don’t know. Don’t give any personal information in any surveys there as well because you will allow scammers to access your profile and information placed on it. Only a trusted sources can be worth your attention.
