Windows Live ID is imperfect

Erik Duindam, a young 19 year old Dutchman has come across one of the biggest Windows Live ID defects. Every single person who wants to create an email on the internet has to undergo some certain procedures. Confirming your registration is one of those. This email with a link to confirm is sent to you after your Windows Live ID, which is also a proof of your ownership of a certain email address. Windows Live ID is believed to be undoubtedly correct by all related Microsoft services and assures that email is created and owned by one exact user. It appeared, however, that this program has some breaches too.

The young Dutchman Erik has been involved in computing since a very early age and he’s a real professional at building sites and dealing with various virtual problems. Although he definitely knows how to use a computer, Erik noticed this mistake in a system accidentally. “I just wanted to have a Windows Live ID for my company but I misspelled my email.” explains he. What happened next was a test where young computer man just registered to prove his ID. The consequence of such an error may cause the lost of all information gathered in your email.

Microsoft programmers made an error which enables every internet user to create an ID for any email address. It’s rather easy to check whether the statement Erik Duindam made is right. Register to www.live.com with an email you have access to and when you receive the confirmation link change the initial email. The system allows making a change so you may use the email that you do not own or the one that doesn’t even exist. After logging out with the first email and using the first link, Microsoft will confirm the second one, which is not yours or doesn’t exist at all.
