Saint Louis Obispo county's website hacked

August 8th, 2007

As hackers wreak havoc across the internet constantly, it is no surprise that they’ve managed to infiltrate an official Saint Louis county website. Here, people could find information on government meetings, learn about upcoming events and read official Obispo county messages. However, all these possibilities have gone past-tense, as hackers brought down one of the largest websites in the county.

A message was left by the intruders for the website administration to read. It went something like this: ‘Hacking is not a crime.’ Evidently, hacking an official web page and leaving thousands of citizens without the ability to get official information should be considered community service. The only good news in this incident is that no identity theft exposure was imminent, according to Saint Louis officials.
