Patches provoke exploits

October 16th, 2007

October once again proved to be an exploit month for Microsoft as their released Windows patch was overwhelmed by exploits on the very next day. Such precedents may create a new trend in hacker activities, as many cybercriminals make new exploits every time Microsoft releases their patches. Symantec, a renowned computer security company, have made a new research that reveals the possible rise of a troubling new era of  lightning-fast Windows exploits.

The security bulletins that come with Microsoft’s patches are a testing ground for hackers from around the world. With the information given with every new patch, cyber-thugs can freely exploit any and all Windows vulnerabilities at will. However, Microsoft is a software vendor, and cannot stop releasing the logs, thus creating a security gap immediately after the release of a patch. And even though security companies are releasing proof-of-concept exploits to stop such menace, this proves to be lacking.

Despite the losing struggle against hackers that such companies as Symantec face, more and more resources are being allocated to combating the ever-growing number of exploits every day.
