Most pharmacies cannot secure customer data

August 21st, 2007

According to SC Magazine, more than a half of online pharmacy companies fail to secure their customer’s private data. This leads to numerous cases of identity theft and carding. A study, conducted by MarkMonitor, a brand protection company, revealed that almost one fifth of online pharmacies do not encrypt their customer emails, and that of 3,160 online chemists studied, only four were accredited as Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS).

The results of the study also show that those who buy counterfeit pharmacy are not only subject to unsafe drugs, but are also vulnerable to all kinds of illegal internet activity.
