iPhone named perfect spying device

November 6th, 2007

Even though Apple’s iPhone has been named the gadget of the year (TIME), some experts believe that it can (and probably will) be used by malicious persons for illegal activities. According to a renowned hacker HD Moore, "A rootkit takes on a whole new meaning when the attacker has access to the camera, microphone, contact list, and phone hardware. Couple this with ‘always-on’ Internet access over EDGE and you have a perfect spying device.".

iPhone has already been hacked on previous occasions, and hackers managed to unlock it and use it with service providers other than AT&T. However, the device features other vulnerabilities on many levels, and most of them have already been exploited. Writing malicious code for iPhone is not only easy, such code is extremely contagious, as any website or email message can be infected, and Apple can do nothing about it.

It seems that iPhone is not only the invention of the year, but also the spy-bound device of the century.
