FireEye presents new anti-botnet application
According to eWeek, reputable computer security experts at FireEye have presented their new anti-botnet tool: Botwall 4000, with its Botwall Network, a subscription-based botnet discovery and analysis service.
"The FireEye Botwall Network is continuously analyzing Internet traffic for botnets and cataloging their whereabouts and activities," said Ashar Aziz, CEO of FireEye. "Enterprise customers participate in the global anti-bot analysis by contributing botnet characteristics and other analysis back into the global Botwall Network." It is evident that FireEye clients actively exchange new threat characteristics, allowing security providers to maximize the efficiency of their anti-botnet service.
Although it seems that there is a growing demand in such security services, it remains to be seen if such security companies as FireEye will be able to effectively combat the botnet threat. However, such tactics of giving the tools to the potential victims themselves seem like a good opportunity to counter the ever-growing botnet threat.
