DriveCleaner uses misleading marketing

July 10th, 2007

DriveCleaner, an ill-reputed fake anti-spyware tool, uses misleading marketing to install itself into users’ systems, SunBelt Software writes in its blog. Using a hijacked Juno email client banner, DriveCleaner offers to clean adult site information from a user’s computer.

It is unclear if Juno have made a deal with DriveCleaner or their marketing systems have been hacked. It is clear, however, that DriveCleaner is a dangerous computer parasite and should be avoided if possible. DriveCleaner is known to use scare tactics to trick users into buying its full save completely useless version.
